escape to under the fig tree

Welcome to
Ol Gaboli

stay with us
Our Lodge
Ol Gaboli sits beside the Ewaso Nyiro river, fed from the foothills of Mount Kenya. This places us in the heart of the Laikipia wilderness, with sounds of the bush all around and a subtle perimeter fence and patrolling rangers protecting us from the larger animals who may want to say hello. Guests relax and eat in our central, thatched mess  before retreating to one of five private bandas that wind along the river.

Onze lodge
Ol Gaboli ligt naast de rivier Ewaso Nyiro. Gasten ontspannen en eten in onze centrale banda, voordat ze zich terugtrekken in vijf privébanda's die langs een bocht in de rivier slingeren.

From your banda you can enjoy early morning coffees, Cinnabar Green bathroom products, and Starlink-powered WiFi - however this can be turned off if you prefer feeling off-grid. With the reliance of the powerful equator sun, we are naturally all solar-powered,  meaning you’ll hear no hum of a generator during your stay. There’s also plenty of space for an optional single bed to be added for families and groups.

The Mess
The Mess is our central, communal area, where guests eat and relax during the day. With views over the river, the Ol Gaboli fig tree, and all the birds that make it their home, it’s our favourite place to relax during the day, and recount safari stories at night. There’s a large stone deck outside, perfect for drinks around an evening fire, served to you from our bar in the mess.

Susan, our head chef, leads our brilliant kitchen team in providing guests with three meals a day from our delicious menu, with your preferences taken into account. We usually eat in the mess, but lunches under the fig tree and starlight dinners are regular occurrences. Guests can also choose to eat in the seclusion of their banda’s verandas. The bar within the mess is stocked with soft drinks, and alcoholic beverages (not incl. in daily rate), and although we are in a relatively-free malarial zone, we always recommend a couple of gin and tonics!
